Description
The Crafts Council is looking for enthusiastic people to welcome visitors to the Crafts Council Gallery, a new public space dedicated to craft. After a year during which craft became ever more present in our lives as a source of comfort, creativity, and empowerment, now feels the perfect time to open a new home for craft.
The Gallery will present a programme of exhibitions and events throughout the year that tell the many stories of craft and making. It is a welcoming and inclusive space that has been designed with collaboration in mind. We want the Gallery to offer something for anyone with an interest in craft or curious to find out more.
We are looking for more volunteers who will play a vital role in letting the public know about upcoming events and inspiring them to get into craft. Our Gallery Volunteers help us to provide outstanding visitor experience, engaging visitors with the gallery’s exhibitions and study, responding to visitor inquiries and supervising the works on display. The volunteer programme aims to recruit, develop and retain a team fully representative of the diverse community we work with. You don’t need to have previous experience in museums or galleries to apply.
Our current exhibition Maker’s Eye: Stories of Craft will run until 9 October, presenting works from the Crafts Council Collection, from the functional to the conceptual with a dizzying array of scale, texture, material and colour. After which the gallery will host the TOAST Creative Residency and several events to be announced as part of the Crafts Council's 50th-anniversary celebrations.
