Dovecot is a world-renowned tapestry studio in the heart of Edinburgh and a landmark centre for contemporary art, craft and design. Established in 1912, Dovecot specialises in contemporary tapestry and handcrafted rugs made in collaboration with leading Scottish and international artists. Dovecot’s work is held in public and private collections including the British Library, Scottish Opera and The Clothworkers’ Company with artists RB Kitaj, Alison Watt and Chris Ofili. As a fine art studio and public gallery, Dovecot regularly hosts exhibitions highlighting textiles in the context of key makers and movements. Combined with an exceptional reputation for facilitating individual and corporate commissions, the Studios offer a bespoke and immersive experience to collectors and visitors alike.
For Collect 2021, tufted rugs and tapestries have been woven by David Cochrane, Douglas Grierson and Naomi Robertson (master weavers) and Ben Hymers, Dennis Reinmüller, Louise Trotter, Kristi Vana and Emma Jo Webster (weavers).
