Ruthin Craft Centre first opened its doors in 1982, but began its rapid and internationally recognised rise to become one of Britain’s most outstanding centres for the applied arts from 1992, when director, Philip Hughes, and deputy director, Jane Gerrard, took the reins. Since then it has become one of the largest publicly funded applied arts venues in the UK, now housing three stunning galleries, large retail space, education and courtyard studios. It runs a hugely important programme of exhibitions of craft from Wales and the UK and beyond, and has an educational and engagement programme for all ages that is central to its activities. Collect 2021 sees a selection of the very best of Welsh creativity in ceramics, textiles, metal and glass from highly successful makers including Philip Eglin, Eleri Mills, Rauni Higson and Neil Wilkin, alongside a selection of new and emerging talent.
