Collect 2022 award winners

A number of awards were given at the 18th edition of Collect

Anthony Amoako-Attah, represented by Bullseye Projects
    Artist of the fair

The judges felt that Anthony’s work was bold and risk-taking, playing with the tactility and familiarity of cloth by translating its qualities into glass. The cross-pollination of culture and disciplines was an exciting new addition to the fair.

Selected by judges Carrie Chan, Rabih Hage, Shiro Muchiri and Natalie Melton.

    House on Mars Gallery
    Outstanding display

This was an inviting space full of personality. We loved the juxtaposition of materials and disciplines, the colour palette and the texture, and, crucially, the warmth and enthusiasm of the gallery to engage and talk about the work.

Selected by judges Carrie Chan, Rabih Hage, Shiro Muchiri and Natalie Melton.

    Robert George
    Collect Open award

The judges were impressed by how well Robert has taken this opportunity to reinvent his practice - in his own words, the opportunity ‘changed everything.’ The accessibility of his approach in terms of tools and materials was reflected in the honesty of his work.

Selected by judges Lorna Hamilton-Brown MBE, Annabelle Campbell and Caroline Jackman

    Christian Ovonlen, represented by Intoart
    Brookfield Properties Craft Award

The Brookfield Properties Craft Award is one of the most significant craft prizes in the UK. It recognises an artist who has substantially contributed to the story of contemporary British making. The judges were immediately blown away by the colours and movement in Christian’s work "his figures appear to lift off the silks, dancing across the fabric, bold in line and brushwork". Read more.

Selected by judges Saff Williams, curatorial director, Brookfield Properties and Annabelle Cambell.
