Jacqueline James is an award-winning rug weaver and dyer creating bespoke commissions for private collectors. Amélie Crépy is an artist and textile print designer for fashion and luxury interiors. Together they have created The Alchemy of Blue, a contemporary handwoven and custom-dyed textile installation featuring luxurious natural fibres including wool, silk and linen dyed in woad and indigo, the plants historically used to produce the colour blue for textiles. Their ambitious collaboration is intended to create a thought-provoking textile artwork that strips away functionality and pushes their professional practices to a higher level. It will reflect their mutual concern around issues of commercial, mass-produced textiles and the impact on the environment. They hope their installation will inspire others to further consider their part in sustainable living.
