I make tableware that I wood fire in an anagama style kiln in Devon. I share the kiln with two other potters. I make elegant strong forms that can be used in the kitchen and at the table. Lined with an ash glaze, the outer surfaces are kept bare and placed strategically in the kiln to benefit from the fly ash and flames during the long firing. A variety of earthy natural colours are drawn out of the clay body and reveal patterns and shadows created by pots placed against each other.
- form and function. Fly ash and flames do the decoration.
