About this project

‘A Ponderance of Plovers’ was installed in the new House of Fraser store, Rushden Lakes in August 2017. It’s a flight of fifty wire Lapwing birds flying through the atrium and was especially designed for the space and the location of the store. Many different types of wires were used to create the birds, some of the wires are reclaimed; used previously as telephone and electrical motor wiring. For Celia part of the joy of making is finding old wires that capture the colour of a particular bird.
