About this project
I was commissioned by Sheffield Hallam University to produce the 12th new St. Leger Stakes winner’s trophy centre design for William Hill and Doncaster Racecourse, in 2018. I drew inspiration from Doncaster’s historic links to the aeronautical industry, in particular, the racecourse’s history of hosting one of the largest air shows in the country; including the first ever air show to take place in Britain in 1909. I also hoped to pay tribute to the RAF’s 100th and Dambuster’s 75th anniversaries.
