Girl with Flowers

About this project

Although I favour mural sized tapestries, I undertook a series of small samples following some time studying medieval tapestries first-hand. Girl with Flowers uses medieval techniques but instead of working slavishly to a cartoon and samples and pre-planning, I responded to the tapestry on the loom as it grew. All subsequent work has followed this way of working, which has proved a much more productive, intuitive and exciting experience. 27 x 30cm hand-dyed wool weft, cotton warp.
