About this project

My work was inspired from ‘Trousseau’, a well-known middle-eastern tradition, which symbolises a young woman’s marriage and the formation of a new life and family. With the war, the young woman’s trousseau became a simple bundle used to carry the very few belongings.
The leather cord moulded around artist’s cherished objects, is the refugees’ now non-existent, gradually dissolved lives. The crochet, which is part of Su’s own trousseau, represents the abstraction of the immigrants.
