I work in porcelain to create sculptural forms which suggest organic growth, fragmentation, fragility, rigidity and fluidity. Originally inspired by decorative ornament seen in plaster ceilings, carved stone or wrought iron, the works incorporate notions of depth, shadow and grandiose flourish.
I use the potters wheel and hand building techniques to create each unique work, which retains a sense of speed and rhythm from the marks made: directional, repetitive, sequential, connected.
