Candle Spheres

About this project

Hollow spheres with a cradle for a tea light or candle, functional sculptures which are technically challenging to throw: the complex idea of inside/outside, surface and edge collide in one form.
At the last moment, before I seal the piece up, I like to blow a long exhale into the top, which gives it buoyancy. Once dry and turned when I pierce the clay, there is an audible whisper as the air that was breathed in is released.
