Kat Evans Ceramics

Ceramic artist

Manchester, Greater Manchester

ceramics, process, sculpture

£500 — £900

Kat Evans’ asymmetrical sculptures speak of the processes that make them: pinching, coiling and paddling. Hours of burnishing create a perfect canvas for a dramatic smoke firing. White hot sculptures are removed from the raku kiln and immediately brought into contact with collected detritus. Control gives way to chance. Time stops. The porous surfaces record the smoke patterns. The sculptures encourage interaction: touching the smooth surfaces and viewing the forms from different perspectives.

Ceramic Art London

I have been selected to exhibit at Ceramic Art London 2020. On my small stand, I aim to create a quiet and thoughtful space. Visitors will be invited to pick up and hold the work, to find a connection with both the object, and the making process.
