Moth Knitter

London, Greater London

Knitting, lepidoptera, textiles

£140 — £850

I knit moths and frame them as specimens in the style of a natural history museum. Each moth is based on a real species and they are all one-offs. I use 100% Shetland Wool for all my work and they are made using a combination of fair isle and intarsia knitting. As a knitter I’d alway thought of moths as tiny brown things that eat my wool but once I discovered how beautiful they can be I thought they’d make great knitted objects.
