About this project

I have great respect for collections that encourage contemplation, conversation and continued consumption.

Made for a fine Scottish gentleman, the cabinet is designed for the storage of a collection of highland whisky and crystal glassware. The cabinet is accessed via a lid at the top that reveals a decadent burr walnut serving area and storage for a few glasses and the ‘current’ favourite bottle. Opening the front door gains access to the collection and shelves for further glassware.

The cabinet is constructed using mitres to achieve a crisp, clean edge allowing for a seamless flow of matching grain throughout the box. The hand curved lid handle reflects the leg frame curved softening the top edge and creating harmony in the design.

Materials were selected for balance and harmony, as well as speaking to the flavour profile of the clients’ favourite whisky: caramel and smoke, with leather and peat aromas.
