Measured & Swift

About this project

These sculpture explore the material qualities of clay when exposed to the steps of a specific making process – Repetition, Compression and Cut. Each piece is made from Parian clay using body stain to create a gradation of colour. The making process involves throwing repetitive sphere forms that are compressed into layers and finally cut using a purpose made cutting tool and a 6 tonne press. The cutter is forced through the stacked form to create a precise interior space.
