About this project

Zaha Hadid guest curated a showcase of personal highlights from Goldsmiths’ Fair 2014.  One of the highlights selected by Zaha Hadid are In Praise of Shadows, ear sculptures by architectural jeweller Ute Decker. Enchanted by a stay in Japan, Decker was inspired to create the minimalist wearable sculptures - a meditation on the richness of simplicity- as an homage to Junichiro Tanizaki’s classic essay celebrating the aesthetics of shadows in Japanese architecture and craft.
