the tempest prognosticator

The towers represent ecologies which spin slowly powered by a motor under the plinth. Compasses on top of each totem are disoriented by a powerful magnet in a lighthouse representing humanity. This work explores the phenomenon of electromagnetism and magneto-reception and extinction. Its premise hinges on the fact that animals are connected to the earth in a fundamental way that humans are not. The human species has literally lost its sense of direction.
