My approach to clay has always been experimental, and I am as strongly influenced by painting, as I am by ceramics. It gives me pleasure to make clay vessels which I can cover with decoration. Using my own slips, I print and paint onto the clay surface. It can be exciting as I layer slips and glazes together without being able to anticipate what the result will be. I also enjoy using wax resist techniques to create subtle and voluptuous interactions as the glaze melts to the surface of the clay
