Craft education pledge

Pledge your commitment to give young people an introduction to craft

Make Your Future 2017 Teachers CPD. Image by Caroline Heron

Our vision is that every child has a chance to discover their practical abilities, develop their creative talents, and become a maker of the future. This vision is rooted in the knowledge that craft skills lead to diverse careers and creative satisfaction throughout life.

Recent governments have failed to change its education policy to make craft and other creative subjects a vital part of the curriculum. So, we are asking the craft community, leading figures from the creative industries and the craft-loving public to take matters into their own hands and pledge a commitment to give young people an introduction to craft.

We need you to pledge your support for craft education on social media using #makeyourfuture or emailing your pledges directly to learning@craftscouncil.org.uk. It can be big or small— from setting up a Craft Club at your school to offering a day’s work experience in your studio. By doing just a little bit extra, we can build a movement to support the makers of the future.
