Camden Arts Centre is an internationally renowned contemporary art venue with an ambitious programme characterised by discovery and risk-taking. We are now seeking a Ceramics Technician to take over from our current long serving technician, who has relocated out of London.
The primary function of the role is to manage the day-to-day activity and maintenance of the Ceramics Studio, managing the studio space efficiently within the cycle of programme activity. They are the main point of contact for all ceramic matters at Camden Arts Centre and are therefore required to bring specialist knowledge and expertise in order to inform our programme. The Ceramics Technician will form a key part of the Education Team, which includes Head of Education, Programme Curator; Education and the Education Coordinator. They will work closely with the Education Team to ensure ceramic activity is delivered efficiently, in a timely manner and to a high quality across the programme. In addition, they will support the Programme Curator; Residencies with the practical delivery of the Ceramic Fellowship and work with the Bookshop and Editions Manager for occasional production of ceramic editions. These additional areas of work happen at different points throughout the year and extra hours are offered to accommodate this work. There may also be opportunities to teach in a freelance capacity as part of the courses programme. Applicants should have an active ceramic practice of a minimum two years, be highly organised with experience of ceramics studio management. Importantly, they must be people focussed, patient, kind, and able to work independently and as part of a small friendly team.
