Kingsgate Workshops invites you to join London-based print maker Theresa Pateman for an introduction into Monotype printing as part of Hey Craft! 2021. Experienced print tutor, Theresa, will guide you through the process of creating your own prints.
Using found items from your garden such as leaves or flowers, and a variety of tools found around the house such as pens, cocktail sticks and sponges, participants will learn key printing techniques and skills! This is perfect for beginners and those with some more experience. Magical Monotype is a 90-minute workshop which will be held via Zoom. Theresa currently teaches printmaking at Hampstead School of Art as well as in her studio at Kingsgate Workshop. She also belongs to Southbank Printmakers artists-run gallery & The Printmakers Council.

Information on inks for Relief Printing
You can use oil-based inks and water based inks for relief printing. Water based inks are more affordable and easier to clean up so are perfect for beginners. Oil based inks will give you a better finish, but are a little more expensive and take a bit more time to clean up.
Recommended water-based inks...
- Tube Charbonnel Aqua Wash ink
- Akua Ink - Black
- Cranfield - Black
All above can be cleaned with soap, water, baby wipes. Can be purchased at Jackson's Art / Amazon / Intaglio Printmaker
If using oil based inks you will also need low odour white spirit and linseed oil.
