How to take advantage of the growing ‘experience economy’
Wednesday 25 August 2021, 1pm – 2pm BST via Zoom
About this talk
There is a growing experience economy which engages customers in memorable events for which there is huge scope for craft business due to the increased public appetite for craft and making. Traditionally most makers at one point in their career have offered a craft experience whether through teaching, workshops, or talks. Experiences can be much more and be a valuable part of your business plan. This talk will offer you advice on how you might develop experiences that could offer alternative income streams and build your profile.
Our guest speaker
We are delighted to be joined by Abdollah Nafisi of Nafisi Studio for this talk. Through the process of improvisation, Abdollah uses functional art as his primary object and examines issues of heritage, futurology and wisdom through wooden sculptic forms. Having travelled with nomads and tribes in the deserts of Iran observing how they foraged materials and inspiration from the lands around them, Abdollah wishes to translate this sense of embodiment into the physical realm through emergent methods of form making.
This talk series is part of Crafting Europe - a project funded by Creative Europe.
These events are part of our ten free lunchtime talks held on Zoom covering essential marketing advice for makers who want to spring back from the last year and grasp all the new opportunities available to them. Speakers will be led by the Crafts Council team and include expert speakers and contributors.
