Ceramic Canopic Jars
In 2019, contemplating themes of ritual and ceremony in ancient civilisations, I began working with clay to build vessels that took inspiration from the animal-headed canopic jars of ancient Egypt.
Thinking about these jars as vessels to carry the remains of the dead, I built my own funerary vessels through which to discuss our declining animal populations as our disregard for the planet drives mass extinctions.
