Collection store grand opening, with Jacqueline Poncelet
Be among the first to see inside Crafts Council's stunning new collection store — a dynamic space where the public can explore and appreciate extraordinary works of craft. A range of makers who have pieces in the national collection of craft will join us for the celebration, including acclaimed artist Jacqueline Poncelet, who will talk us through some of her work, including those featured in her recent retrospective at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.

Making It: What does craft need from the new UK government?
Ahead of Labour's first party conference since taking power, we invite a panel to discuss what public policies the craft sector needs to flourish and what the Crafts Council could do to support it. Come along to hear from textile artist James Fox, writer and lecturer Charlotte Warne Thomas, founder of jeans brand Blackhorse Lane Ateliers Han Ates; and interdisciplinary artist and scenography maker Grace Lee, will be among the speakers on this panel. It will be chaired by Crafts Council’s executive director Natalie Melton. This is the first in a series of Crafts online talks and articles called Making It, focused on the future of the craft sector and professional practice. It will be recorded for members to watch on-demand afterwards.

The campaigner, writer and former Green Party leader and MP Caroline Lucas discusses her new book Another England: How to Reclaim Our National Story with master potter, artist and writer Edmund de Waal, for whom notions of migration, culture and identity have long been a focus, through projects such as The Library of Exile. This is the first event for This Country, Crafts' year-long programme exploring English identity and culture through craft. The talk will be recorded for members to watch on-demand afterwards.
