Adrian McCurdy

Furniture Maker and Wood Worker

Jedburgh, Scotland

  • Furniture making
  • Woodworking
  • Website
  • E-mail

Adrian McCurdy uses local wood from Scottish Borders. The diversity of work reflects interests in fundamental craft approaches and creative exploration. Emphasis is very much upon working with the inner-grain to determine shapes in furniture and visual effects upon carved-panels. The furniture craft lies mainly in piecing together irregular riven parts to create a useful and balanced whole. With carved panels it’s more about the shaping of a subject and how it interacts with the grain.

Celebration of Craftsmanship

17 August 2019

Adrian McCurdy's Riven Ark has won 'Best use of British Timber' awarded by Woodland Heritage 2019. Made using cleft oak from different trees, the ark is a 'flat-pack' cavernous chest with an arched lid. It remains transportable with a small van.
