Relief Printed Ceramic Vessels
Taking the process of relief printing onto slabs of clay into three dimensions whilst trying to preserve the delicate design on the surface of the clay which can be easily damaged when handling the slabs. The vessels reflect the curving hillsides around Derbyshire and are decorated with imagery of familiar but elusive British wildlife. I use combinations of slips, oxides and underglaze with a transparent glaze to highlight some areas and to turn the metallic brown of the copper slip to green.
