BAKKA

Shetland, Scotland

Traditional fisherman's kep (hat), fully lined for extra warmth, inspired from hat in held in archives of Shetland Museum and Archives, Lerwick. Knitted by hand with colours replicating old natural dyes, in pure Shetland wool.

Traditional fisherman's haaf-keps with turn-up., Liam Henderson Photography

Series of hats, in three sizes. The fishermen wore hats such as these when they went to the fishing grounds, 40 miles offshore. This pattern matches the family 1) scarves and wristwarmers. The hats are knitted by hand in pure Shetland wool, using the same heritage colours as for the superfine merino collection.

Cloche hats., Liam Henderson Photography

Fully lined cloche hats, matching scarves in family 7). The photo show the effect of interchanging the bands of colour. Knitted by hand in pure Shetland wool using the same colours as in the heritage scarves.
