My work explores the contradiction between the veneers of order and control we show to the world and the private realities that lie hidden beneath the surface.
My practice is one of ‘controlled spontaneity’. I start with writing about experiences and then work directly with the clay, letting the ideas lead the work.
I use my two favoured techniques - slab building and throwing - for the two strands of my work: sculptures and sculptural vessels.
