Ammonite Shadow: Idoceras Swirl and Calycoceras Swirl
My ‘Ammonite Shadow’ series explores the interplay between the patterns within the woven structures within my fabric, three-dimensional form and light. As the sunlight moves across each piece it creates a series of changing shadows at different times throughout the day, emphasising the form. The two framed artworks can be hung individually or together, as their shapes have been created to sit harmoniously together.

This is a detail of my woven and pleated artwork Ammonite Shadow: Idoceras Swirl. As the light reflects from the threads within my woven fabric it adds depth to the piece and emphasises the pattern within the weave.
This is one of two complimentary framed woven, pleated and stitched 'textile fossil' artworks.

Woven, pleated and stitched framed artwork. Whilst making this artwork I have explored a new way of forming the pleats that creates holes or 'chambers' that gradually increase in size that are similar to those found in Ammonite fossils.
