My work is heavily influenced by the diverse local geology.Deserts, glaciers, volcanoes and shallow sea have all played a part in the formation of the landscape, and I want to reflect this in my work.I am aiming for movement and texture in the pot forms and the glazes. Finally I surrender work to the kiln and let the voice of each piece emergeFocus:Wheel thrown stoneware and porcelainCommissions:Available for commissionsI try to incorporate as many local materials as possible into my work, especially slips and glazes. Using local rocks, clays and woodash gives me the satisfaction of knowing that I am producing glazes and decoration that are particular to me and the local area from which they are gathered. Rocks are sourced in small amounts from the rubble of disused quarries.Clays come mostly from old cuttings and woods for the ash are prunings or fallen boughs from my own ground or local tree surgery.AboutWorking in both stoneware and porcelain,I make mostly one off pieces, aiming for simple well balanced forms; I favour bottles, bowls and jugs.
