Working chiefly with porcelain, I colour the clay and make the subtle vignettes of colour and pattern that so captivate me. My inspiration is my garden and the world around me, the coloured clay gradations represent floral patterns or interpretations of the skies and landscapes. These are embedded within the body of my work, and my methods ensure that each piece is totally unique.Focus:I create work using the process of NerikomiSustainability is foremost in all our minds. I am lucky to be able to work from my home studio so my carbon footprint for travel is extremely light. My clay and body stains for my work are sourced from the UK and I endeavour to make as few orders as possible to avoid multiple deliveries. When I fire my electric kiln, I make sure that there is a full load, and as I do not glaze, I fire only once. The packaging I use is all recycled material.AboutI specialise in the ancient ceramic process of Nerikomi, which lends itself beautifully to contemporary adaptation.
