I create ‘weavescapes’– woven art pieces, mounted in handmade wooden box frames for wall display. I delight in using a wide variety of yarns for their sculptural and painterly qualities, often within a single piece. Pre-occupied with bringing movement to the rigid angular grid set by the shaft loom and sacrificing stability of the cloth over expressiveness, I strive to weave pieces of art that feel like objects come to life. They have playful or poetic titles too, so each piece has a ‘story’.
