Construction and materials are central to my practice I create handwoven tapestries, abstract, wall based and sculptural. The materials chosen inform the shape of the work. A mix of of traditional and newly created techniques are used. I use a minimal palette of materials and techniques to create the works. In 2019 Swailes showed her series The Constellations at Collect and was shortlisted for the Cordis prize for her work Le Bric et de Broc, shown at London Art fair in January 2020.
