Ceramic Lace Vessels

A series of double-walled ceramic vessel forms, hand-built using traditional coiling and pinch construction methods. The surfaces are applied using layers of vitreous slips, incorporating delicate patterns, which make aesthetic reference to the lace industry. The work alludes to the domestic realm, disrupting the manufactured multiple and returning it to the one-off and hand-made. Through the works I aim to acknowledge the historical role of women in the manufactured, artisanal artefact.
