Lichen
Lucy Spink Jewellery
Flushing, England
Inspired by delicate lichen forms, textured using my Granddad's old workshop hammers in silver and gold. The hammered surface has a subtlety, which catches the light beautifully, and the gold adds warmth and depth to the designs. I love to walk in big landscapes and enjoy the contrast of these expansive views with the tiny life forms growing on trees and rocks.
These delicate and light weight hoops are distinctive and truly unique, each one has a subtle gold flare to signify the importance of the human connection to our beautiful natural landscapes. Each statement lichen hoop is unique. The handcrafted nature and the texture given to the surface of the silver gives them an understated shine
The shape and form of this design is inspired by beautiful tiny lichen plants which cover the ancient stones and woodlands of Cornwall. The gold represents the importance of human connection to the landscape and my feeling that this is fundamental to our sense of self. Recycled silver or oxidised silver and 18 ct gold.
