Felt maker

Frome, Somerset

contemporary felt, memory, change & transformation

The starting point of much of my work is informed by the alchemy of the felt making process.  Wool fibres, water and soap are combined to transform into a fabric which can be shrunk into tactile forms through a long and physical process, the wool memorising the form as it dries. The idea of the wool "remembering’ is significant;  my intricate costumes & body adornments hint of ritual practices and are a physical expression of my interest in the nature of our human condition & concepts of self.
