An ongoing series of mostly raku fired pebble and stone forms. The work is inspired by the geology and archaeology of the land around me on Skye. I have been raku firing some of my work for many years. It was how I returned to making ceramics. I love the deep, soft blacks and greys which it achieves and the warmth of the low fired body. The raku fired surfaces remind me of the peat banks both in their wet and dry states, and the stretched clay reflects the patterns in the land.
