Armstrong’s hand-built ceramic sculptures explore identity, transformation, and the quiet power of the natural world. Each piece is raw yet refined, process-led and deeply personal, reflecting her belief that clay holds stories as well as form. The Florence Biennale, held from 18–26 October 2025, attracts artists and collectors from across the globe. Paula will present a series of works that challenge and celebrate the expressive potential of clay. “I’m honoured to bring my work to an international stage alongside artists from so many disciplines,” says Armstrong. “Clay has such an ancient, grounding presence, and I’m excited to share how it continues to speak in fresh, contemporary ways.”Studio Video from 2017Studio tour 2020As an artist my aim is to have a positive impact on the wider world and this includes sustainability. To achieve this, I will always consider, and where possible monitor and improve, the environmental impact of the studio activities particularly in relation to carbon, sustainability and ecological impacts. The main areas of focus are energy consumption, decreasing single use plastic usage, monitoring water usage and moving towards UK suppliers where possible.AboutMy work touches upon the power and potential within seed pods as well as birthing new life.
