A collaboration between the Crafts Study Centre and New Ashgate Rising Stars 2025
I was invited to respond to a piece from the jewellery collection in the CSC archive. I chose a brooch by Gordon Stewart, in anodised aluminium, printed with photographic images of his family. Although with similar starting points, the results are quite different. My response to Stewart’s work uses letters to me in my mother’s hand, with cut-out silhouettes to represent the pages turning. It is created with copper and enamel, transferring images using a slow process of heating in a kiln.
