Pembroke chair range
It started with a course in green woodworking and Windsor chair making with Gudrun Leitz. Along with 11 other designers I spent a week acquainting myself with the pole lathe, adze and steam bending - which I hadn't done since college. The result was a chair which I called Pembroke since it was inspired by the traditional Welsh stick chair. I went on to design a small range which is now manufactured by expert chair makers, Sitting Firm.
Inspired by the Welsh tradition of stick chairs but given a more contemporary and less rustic update. Made from solid ash, oak and elm.
Solid elm and ash. The range was awarded a Design Guild Mark by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.
