My practice is focussed on working with chainmail in my signature intricate lace patterning. I apply this technique across scales to become jewellery and sculpture which all seek to express the complexity and nuance of gender identities. I am inspired by the expansion of contemporary craft and its capability as a tool for social change. I am interested by how new processes can affect and comment on both social sustainability and cultures of consumption, making new meaning from matter.

Focus:
materiality in contemporary craft (multi-media).

Exhibition: Future Edit at Crafts Council Gallery

27/11/20

I am delighted that my large chainmail-lace screen 'Lace Armour' has been selected for Future Edit, the Craft Council's showcase of graduate talent.

Exhibition: Ones To Watch at Sunny Bank Mills

1/05/21

This year, 'Lace Armour' will appear in Sunny Bank Mills' annual showcase of selected Yorkshire based graduate talent. The exhibition brings together work by artists from across disciplines, from painting to sculpture, film, photography, ceramics, design and more. Strong themes have emerged from the selection this year; with artists exploring ideas around identity, portraiture, lockdown, time, locality, craft and technology. Ones to Watch provides a unique platform to discover and experience the work of Yorkshire’s graduate artists during the coronavirus pandemic, when many degree shows may not be accessible.

Crafting Business Selected Maker

06/05/21

I am among the selected makers chosen to participate in a new, 4-month long business support programme. Crafts Council's Crafting Business is part of Crafting Europe, a Creative Europe funded project to provide business training skills to makers across Europe. Eight countries (including the UK) will be delivering their own respective training programmes in 2021 supporting up to 200 makers.
