Crafts magazine issue No 278

Our May/June edition spotlights the relationship between making and performance today.

We meet a cast of jewellery designers, ceramists and textile artists who are showing their processes to the public – sometimes leaving object-making behind entirely – and visit an experimental fashion school launched by Assemble in New Orleans that embraces the city’s costume cultures.

Elsewhere we look at the medicinal power of acts of creation. In response to a radical shift in government health policy, we ask if a dose of craft should be available on prescription.

Plus, just before the next flock of students spread their wings, our annual Graduates supplement returns, offering tips from mavericks who are forging a new path for makers.
