The Guild of Glass Engravers is delighted to present their first exhibition at The World of Glass, St Helens, the premier North West visitor centre for glass and heritage.
The exhibition showcases contemporary engraved glass by members of the Guild of Glass Engravers. The primary aims of which are to promote the highest standards of creative design and craftsmanship in glass engraving.
To engrave glass is to embark on an absorbing and rewarding experience of working with light. The mysterious qualities of glass - a liquid metal caught in a moment of time and requiring both fire and water in the making - appear magical. Glass engravers capture, enhance and celebrate these qualities in their work and endeavour to communicate them to a wider audience.
With over 50 exhibits ranging from the miniscule to life size, using various engraving techniques and styles, this exhibition highlights the skill and creativity involved in being a glass engraver. Exhibits will also be available to buy during the exhibition from the gallery staff.
