Jerry Jeanmard is a Houston-based artist and graphic designer, renowned for his witty and subversive figurative collages.
In his most recent series of work, Jeanmard conjures his playfully subversive figures from assorted scraps of vintage papers, the result of which is an eclectic array of charming and curious characters.
His new exhibition brings together an arresting cast of characters: a mermaid emerging from scraps of discarded tidal graphs, a traffic cop with a jaunty bus-ticket hat, a lady with a mink stole and impressive quatrefoil brooch.
Through this clever assembly, Jeanmard provides a witty commentary on contemporary questions of identity politics.
