Ferrous 24 explores blacksmithing’s connection to the environment and the value of materials from earth to iron. Free exhibitions from renowned international makers take over city centre venues - surrounding a live forging experience open to all.
Hereford’s biannual international festival of artist blacksmithing, Ferrous Festival, returns from the 15 to 24 March 2024. Home to one of Europe's only Artist Blacksmithing degree courses - Hereford is firmly at the centre of excellence in artist blacksmithing.
Under the creative leadership of Del Done MBE – who also heads the degree programme at Hereford College of Arts – the free public festival takes over the city centre with international artists exhibiting alongside HCA students and grads in dedicated gallery spaces across the city.
Ferrous 24 will celebrate the best creative metalwork from the UK and around the world, with diverse artists and makers from over 20 different countries taking part. In 2022 the event attracted more than 40, 000 people to Hereford – and the line-up for 2024 promises to bring the same energy, excitement and exquisite work to the city's historic High Town.
