In honour of International Women’s Day, join Griffi and Rosie, curators of We Gather, for an afternoon workshop in the Crafts Council gallery.
“Making and creating in my own home for the people I love gives me a feeling of joy and excitement but also a place of solace.” - Patsy Moore.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, craft enthusiasts who identify as woman or female, are invited to attend a workshop in the gallery on Tuesday 8 March from 3pm until 5pm. Attendees will discuss the themes and questions surrounding We Gather – our current exhibition featuring works by five female artists of Black and Asian heritage.
In this workshop, you will take part in a creative activity that channels memories, both personal and collective. You’ll explore objects, materials and items often found in the home that evoke memories of making and the people that made them. Together we’ll discuss the impact of craft upon our everyday lives and domestic spaces.
Participants are invited to share stories and bring a personal object to the workshop, such as: a knitted blanket, a recipe, a crochet doily, a handmade object or heirloom.
