Moving Parts Puppet School is a space for North East of England locals to create, play, explore, express and imagine. It is a place for discovering puppetry and for building a community for the art form in the region.
This tailored course is aimed at complete beginners to puppetry and those with more experience. All participants will learn how to build and perform with their very own puppets! The workshops aim to spark creativity in kids, teens, and adults alike through accessible and affordable activities.
Courses are open to anyone living in the North East of England and attendees can join in-person at the Carnegie Building (Riverside Community Health Project) in Newcastle or online via Zoom. Tickets will include a pop-up box theatre and puppet-making materials packs free of charge!
You will learn in a welcoming environment run by 'puppetologist' Will and his trusty robot assistant ZB. Budding puppet apprentices will learn how to design and make their own puppets from a range of materials in assorted styles. Then they will put these creations into practice by learning how to perform with them in their pop-up box theatre, which is included free in the course price along with all craft materials.
Parents/guardians and friends will be welcome to attend the final session in December 2021 as apprentices perform their newly created shows to each other.
