Out of the Earth comes all things. This exhibition is an artists’ response to the dynamic worlds that lay hidden within it.
Everything comes from the earth. Wood grows, dies, and grows again. Metal is extracted and forged. Clay is layered, pressured, lifted, and moulded. But there is another kind of process, the one which involves the artist, taking the earth’s materials and using their imagination and skill to shape anew kind of image with its own grace and beauty.
Time continually carves itself into the strata: rocks tell of millennia spent in flux, mud upon ancient mud speaks of storms and droughts, bones of animals and kin, pottery shards, and crumbling structures lay preserved, cradled by dirt.
