Paul Smith will present a series of unique sculptures by Vic Wright. These one-off works by the Manchester-based maker evoke an amplified and distorted vision of the natural world.
Wright has an explorative and experimental approach to her work and is influenced by nature’s ability to display beauty through difference. Her work typically takes the form of casts, with metal powders and pigments added to the process to create unique textures and colours. “For this new series of work l have expanded on the theme of naturalistic forms”, says Wright. “Referencing the visual textures of rock strata and organic mineral particles, my intent was to explore surface and texture in sculptural form. With deeper exploration into my materials such as cement filigree and hand grown crystals, l wanted to expand into a coming together of contrasting elements and generate more intricate detail.”
